Sound Waves: Tchaikovsky

Beautiful and hauntingly performed: wavelengths of the sound waves produced change based on the size of the glasses and the amount of water in each.

French and Indian War Movies

In American Studies we discussed the French and Indian War.  Here are a couple of movies that are about this period in American history that might interest you if you're into vintage films.  Let me know about others if you come across them.

NORTHWEST PASSAGE
-about Roger's Rangers and his raid on an Abenaki village
-copied from Wikipedia:

Northwest Passage is a 1940 film in Technicolor, starring Spencer Tracy, Robert Young, Walter Brennan, Ruth Hussey, and others. It is based on a novel by Kenneth Roberts titledNorthwest Passage (1937).
It is set in the mid 18th century during the French and Indian War (as the Seven Years' War in North America is usually known in the US). It is a partly fictionalised account of the St. Francis Raid, an attack by Rogers' Rangers on Saint Francis (the current Odanak, Quebec), a settlement of the Abenakis, an American Indian tribe. The purpose of the raid is to avenge the many attacks on British settlers and deter further attacks.
(Ask your grandmother about Spencer Tracy - he was quite a star back in the day!)

LAST OF THE MOHICANS
-copied from Wikipedia:
The Last of the Mohicans is a 1992 historical epic film set in 1757 during the French and Indian War and produced by Morgan Creek Pictures. It was directed by Michael Mann and based on James Fenimore Cooper's novel of the same name and George B. Seitz's 1936 film adaptation, owing more to the latter than the novel. The film stars Daniel Day-Lewis,Madeleine Stowe, and Jodhi May, with Russell MeansWes StudiEric Schweig, and Steven Waddington in supporting roles.
